The sun rose only a few minutes ago. The smell of morning dew wafts with a strong but pleasing scent for most. As the morning light hits the city of Nuxbar, a few tired guards yawn in the distance, happy to have gone through another shift without incident. A few early risers make their way towards the city gates with weapons in hand, ready to tackle the wonders of the world. This morning, eight adventurers are crossing through Nuxbar's streets on their way back to a small, mostly empty patch of land save for a moderately sized residence near the front. You eight hold in your hand an acceptance letter to a small unnamed guild run by Farina Redwood. As the eight of you enter, you are each greeted by your new Leader. Meanwhile, her assistant Sariah continues to gather boxes together in a side room of the main hall, hastily scribbling notes on a clipboard and paper. Farina directs you to sit. As you look around, you'll find a very minimalist style room. "Welcome everyone! It took a bit of convincing and a bit more En than I would've hoped, but I was able to convince the guild hall to grant us a 10 member permit right away! So aside from Sariah and I, the eight of you will make up the entirety of the guild. Congratulations!" "Woo~" "I'm sure you're all aware of how guilds function, but just in case, Sariah created a introductory manual to guild life and adventuring. But, um, Sariah lost them among all the boxes... so long story short: You go out and explore, we accept requests, gather resources, and more often than not, we fight the local wildlife. Oh and stay away from the large ones. Anyways, as your guild leader, I will be handling all of the necessary paperwork to keep this guild running. I will be in charge of maintaining our home base and applying for improvements and expansions. I'm also your lifeline if you ever get overwhelmed in any of your explorations. On that note... " At this point, Sariah walks up to each one of you and hands you each a ring. She gestures to everyone as she demonstrates by placing the ring over her finger. The ring suddenly expands as she pushes her right ring finger into it before shrinking down to fit snugly though not tight over her finger. "Please put those on. While you have those on, you will be identified as a member of my guild and will be able to pass through doors past this main hall. Also, if you ever find yourselves in mortal peril I can teleport you back here as an emergency measure. It's an emergency teleport and it's done quickly, so you might lose a few of your items in the process." "I found the binders!" Sariah quickly hops towards the eight of you and hands you each a small empty binder titled The Basics of Adventuring. However, there are no pages inside. "Oops, I guess the pages are in another box. But uh, you each hold on to that... ... ... Hey look I have at least eighty boxes to go through, half of which are my size, okay?" she playfully asserted. "As soon as I find the pages I'll hand them out," she called out as she walked away from the group and dove straight in to another box. "In the mean time, since we'll all be working together from now on, how about we all introduce ourselves to each other. I guess I'll start it off! I am Farina Redwood, 25, and a former explorer of over 12 years. I've been on numerous adventures and due to some complications with a leg injury, I decided to take the early retirement and pursue my other life goal of managing my very own guild. And let me tell you, the red tape is ridiculous... there are like... 40 different rules about just recruiting members. Anyways, that's enough about me. Let's hear from you guys!"

Falon is excited. Finally, he as been admitted to a Guild and can fight opponents more interesting than the other students at the Academy. Granted, the trip to Nuxbar had been long and boring, but he was sure it would be worth it.
He walks forward, and excited spring in his steps, and bows shortly. "Hi! My name is Falon Sunblade, from the Family of Flame and Smoke. I'm 19 years old and have spent the last 9 years training at the Landsknecht Academy in the west, working on Swordplay, General Combat and specializing in Elemental Manipulation."
He grins, draws his sword, concentrates for a moment... and the swords bursts into flames. "See! Fire!" He stops the flames and sheaths his sword. "I wanted to join a guild so I could get some proper combat experience in. I've been in plenty of duel at the Academy, but few real fights yet."

Nette listens intently to the instructions. It was important not to miss something and make a fool out of oneself! When their nice guild-leader decided to hand them their rings her concentration lapsed a little as she studied the precious thing. It is a very nice thing. Ring. she thought to herself as she slipped it over her finger and refocused on the briefing, only to be handed a binder. With a frown of concentration quickly deepening Nette flipped it open and stared down at the empty inside. Icy clutches quickly gripped her heart as she could not quite figure out how she was supposed to gleam any information from this thing. What did I miss?! she thought as her panic rose - luckily it lasted only for a moment as Sariah mentions the missing pages. With an audible sigh of relief Nette closed the binder for now and watched the assistant disappear into another box.
"*Phew*"
Shuffling a little in her chair Nette settled down to listen to the introductions. Fire! Nette flinched as the swordsman's blade burst into flames. Pretty! she noted when it became clear that the fire wasn't going to go anywhere closer to her. And then it seemed like her turn to introduce herself!
"Hello all! I am Nette of Cherigrove, -" the forest spirit raises to her feet and bows, imitating the previous speakers introduction. "- of the *uh* Cherigrove family. From Cherigrove ..."
Nette pauses and holds up her hands. *That* part of her introduction didn't feel very exciting so she decided to shift topic. The previous look of concentration briefly returns and her hands spout numerous leaves, forming around them like scaley gauntlets with sharp tips. "I mostly helped tend the grove and shoo away unwanted intruders, wildlife and the like. Adventuring didn't seem like a far step from that and when I completed my rite of passage I decided to come here!"
With another quick bow Nette sits down again. Her newly sprouted leaves swiftly shifts into red and yellow and starts to fall off, decaying into nothing even as they lazily drifts trough the air.

"Ohohohoho- Oh! What lovely party tricks!" The elvish-ish one said, staring at this spectacle of the flaming blade and falling leaves with increasing interest. He clapped his hands vigorously at these absolutely delightful displays before realizing it was his turn to speak.
The young man(?) stood up, and flourished his hand wildly before him as he bowed. In a high, tinny voice he addressed his companions. "Bonjour friends! Allow me introduce myself. I am Olivier Sinclaire, a traveling Sage. My beloved Papa has tutored me in the arts of barrier conjuration and Pokéball creation. Yes! Oh! Spell tags! And ah, my favorite thing in the world is the smell of mint leaves and cinnamon! And just so you know, I am positively giddy about the prospect of working with you all and- Ooh what a lovely ring!"
Olivier plunged back into his seat and began to fiddle with the ring that he had apparently only just discovered to have been put into his hand. He chittered quietly with birdlike laughter as he twisted the ring about his finger, playing with the size enchantments that had been imbued into it and swinging it wildly about his finger as it shrank and expanded accordingly.
...Perhaps he is done speaking now?

Bee's turn! When it looks like Olivier's done, she bounces up to her feet. She doesn't care that the guild is small or new - it's still such a difference from her old life. When she speaks, she's got a slight accent that someone who knows accents might associate with the northern mountains.
"Hi everybody! My name's Beatrix Burton - call me Bee, everybody does anyway. Anyway, I'm a cartographer! I like making maps and keeping track of the Pokémon that live in various places - trust me, with me around we're not going to get lost easily!" She grins around at the room. "I'm good at navigation, and okay with a bow and ice magic. I wanted to join a guild because I like seeing new places and discovering things. Not many better jobs to do that in than adventuring!"
Someone paying attention might notice that unlike some of the people before her, Bee says nothing about where she's from, not even 'traveling'. Maybe cartographer implies it? Once she sits down she goes back to watching Nette with wide eyes - she's never seen anything like her before. Don't exactly get a lot of forest spirits up in the mountains.

Helios looked around with a look of consternation on his face. This was the guild he'd be joining? There was nothing here! He'd heard that the guild was new, but it hadn't dawned on him just how new.
"I'm Helios Destrom, sun mage extraordinaire. It's nice to meet you guys, I guess, though I'm only wasting time here because all of the other guilds were full. Not to brag, but I was near the top of my class in mage academy, so you could say I have some skills."
He lazily waves his wand around a few times, leaving a glowing trail. "My specialty is light magic. In addition to smiting my enemies, it's also pretty good for lighting up dark places without all that nasty smoke fires always bring."

Henry took his seat, almost bouncing with excitement as he took his tophat off, revealing a small mess of chestnut hair atop his head. He could probably use a haircut, now that he thought about it, but now was not the time for that! Now was the time for adventure! And mysteries, quests, monsters, new friends, AND MYSTERIES! He took a moment to calm himself down, slipping the ring onto the middle finger of his left hand, the one he used to steady his bow. It was a shame that the pages for the tips were missing, but he was sure they'd be found soon enough by Sariah. Farina seemed fascinating, as did the members that had spoken up so far! He was so excited to be part of a guild! He stood when it was his turn, excitement and a huge grin evident on his face.
"My name is Henry Lancaster! I'm from a small village in the woods, where my father, Richard, raised and trained me! A few years ago, he was called to help someone, and... well, I'm here now! It's so exciting to meet you all and be part of a guild!" For his first time outside of the village, he was freaking out a lot less than he expected. He supposed that was good.
"Oh, I suppose I should mention my skills... My father taught me how to use a Bow and Arrow, and while I'm not as good a shot as he is yet, I like to think I'm still alright?" The humble boy grinned and rubbed the back of his head shyly, then his eyes lit up as he remembered the OTHER thing he was good at. "Oh! And sometimes I can see glimpses of the future! Nothing TOO big yet, just flashes here and there... But I'm getting better!"
With that, he took a seat, his hands in his lap to control them from placing his hat back on and running around the place to explore every nook and cranny. Instead, he looked to the last two members of the guild, interested in what they had to say.

The man in the medic's coat glanced at the remaining guild recruit to see if she was moving to go first, but she seemed to be off in her own world, a perplexed look on her face. Twisting the ring in his palm, the fairly tall man stood up. His face spoke of relaxation, calm, and camaraderie. "I am Merit Sol, and I accept your proposal, Miss Redwood. To death do us part, no?" As he slid the ring onto his ring finger, he gave the whole group a small, playful wink. After a moment, his face quickly became focused and disciplined. "On a more serious note, I am a fully trained field medic with some years of combat experience in the town guard. Unlike most medics-" Merit pulls out his staff and swings it with speed and precision safely away from the gathered spectators, "-I can fight." With a smile, he put his staff back in its former place. "All of you seem to be fine people, Earthen, Lunari, Therian, Bronie and forest spirit alike. I will do my part to make this guild great."
Merit Sol sits down in his seat, looking pointedly at the last guild recruit.

When Nithia is handed the ring, the youthful looking Lunari takes it and cups it in her hands, staring down with her big silver eyes filled with a perplexed look. She brushed a strand of silver hair out of her face, revealing one of the bright orange triangles drawn on her cheek. She hadn't expected this today, and she hadn't been prepared for it. She had to choose this carefully, or she'd set her balance off... Perhaps if she put it on the index finger on her left hand... but no, that would upset the balance of the amethyst-silver ring, which could cause her curses to misfire onto allies instead. Ring finger, right hand maybe? But then she'd have four rings on that finger, and the 3rd ring on that finger was already annoyed enough at having to share it with two partners. Normally she would put it on her left pinky, since it was tied to identity in some systems of occult magic, but that was exact opposite of her right pinky, which was oriented with movement, and having it positioned so far away from the right pinky could cause the teleportation magic to get messed up if she was in trouble. This was quite the puzzle... She held the ring up to her left eye, staring through it, eyes roving the room for leylines. She had always wanted a monocle. Oh, why was everyone looking at her? She squinted through the ring-monocle for a second, trying to figure it out. Oh, was it her turn to introduce herself already? That went surprisingly fast for seven other people to introduce themselves.
She set the ring down onto the table, deciding to figure out its placement later. She looked around the room with a disconnected gaze and a dreamy smile. "I'm Nithia Rinne. I specialize in blessings and curses, so don't get on my bad side or I might cast a Hex on you~" She wiggles her fingers in the air threateningly with a wide smile on her face, seemingly pleased with herself.

"Oh, we have a lovely mix of adventurers," she beams while clasping her hands. "I hope that everyone here is ready! When I looked through your applications yesterday, I took note of your preferred starting partners. As you all know, pokemon are rather strange magical creatures. They are composed of a strange essence known as Vitas. I submitted a request to the guild council and was given the one-use recipe and essence, so to speak, to be able to create your ideal partners." As she mentions this, she goes off to a nearby corner and drags along a cloaked device on wheels. She removes the cloth hanging over it to reveal a rather strange contraption. It appears to be a solid cube with a spherical hollow center somewhat reminiscent of a spherical test tube. "All we have to do is insert a pokeball and the essence and that'll be it." As she places 8 pokeballs, she reaches into a bag and pulls out some tiny sphere which she places next to them. She then places her hand on the top of the machine; upon doing so, the cube fully closes and what can only be described as "mystical noises" emanated from the device. "While it does its job... let me remind you that these essences will be used up in the process. However, as you go out to explore you can capture pokemon essence and when you do, that pokeball will be sent straight back to me thanks to those rings. That essence is permanent so once you capture a pokemon we'll be able to create more than one if any of your are interested." "Oooh, I love this part!" Sariah hops over and joins Farina next to the device. "Uh, Sariah is the machine supposed to fizz like that?" she asks as she points to the back of the machine. *ding* "Okay it looks like it went without a hitch," she chimed in, ignoring her assistant. "Let's see the results." She places all of the pokeballs in a tray and walks around the table handing a pokeball to each guild member. "Please take a moment to get to know your partners, since you'll be traveling together fairly soon!" "Psst... the mission. Tell them about the mission," she whispers to Farina while tugging on her clothes. "Oh yes, so as you know, we're currently an unnamed guild. In order to earn the right to name our guild, we have to have our new members complete an introductory mission. This mission is the same for all new guilds: Mapping! The eight of you will be split into two teams of four each. I will give you the directions to the two separate locations that you have to explore; they are both in a nearby forest. In order to successfully complete your mission, you will each need to complete a map of the area you have been assigned. Please be aware of any dangerous creatures you come across. Quite unfortunately, a lot of wild pokemon are dangerous... not that you need the reminder... but I wanted to emphasize it anyways." She pulls out some pieces of parchment which she places on the table along with some ink and quills. "So the eight of you will want to decide on your groups. And you'll also want to pick your cartographers. When you're ready, the first location is found south of us in "Solemn Forest". Team one will take the northwest entrance, while team 2 will take the northeast entrance. The two areas are completely sectioned off, so there's no chance of running into each other... or helping each other either. So take care.... Sariah, if you will!" "Bring me stuff! ... ... ... No really, bring me stuff! If you do I can try to make items for you guys! Or even cook you guys some sweet stuff. When you defeat certain enemies, they'll occasionally leave behind a bit of their Vitas which will take the form of random items and sometimes even En! These random items are very useful to merchants since they can have a lot of uses. Anyways, I have a goodie bag for each of you." She drags over a box containing a few sling bags. "These bags can each hold up to 10 items. I know they're small... but you can get bigger ones later if you help me out~" If you look in the bags, you'll find 2 potions and 3 pokeballs. "Okay then, when you are ready you guys can start heading out!"

Henry nodded, taking the pokeball gratefully, curious as to how his partner would look. He noted the mission with a note of excitement as his father's letter echoed in his head. Explore the Dungeons... What better way to do that then to map them out himself! After he'd settled his satchel across his shoulder, he reached forward and took the quill and a blank map, grinning from ear to ear.
"Well... If no one minds, I'll map one side! I've been meaning to brush up on it, and I'll do my best!" He put the quill in the brim of his hat, and the ink next to it, in case anyone spoke up asking to do it instead. In the meantime, he took the pokeball in his hand, examining it an accidentally triggering the release. With a burst of red light, a new companion was now sitting atop his hat, staring back at him. Seemed he had gotten a Remoraid, as requested! "Hello there friend! My name is Henry Lancaster, I look very forward to working with you! As for your name... How does Sir Francis Glubbington sound? Glubs for short?" Sir Glubbington pause a moment, and hearing no objection, Henry nodded, beaming. "Wonderful! I'm sure we'll get along thick as thieves!"

Merit took his Pokeball and released it in front of him. After a bright flash of red light, a Cherubi sat there, a pleasent look on its red face. The combat medic knelt down and smiled. "I'm Merit -- Merit Sol. Your name is-" he breifly pauses, "-Matchi. Adventure awaits us, Matchi!"
With Matchi on his shoulder, Merit turns to Henry, and, after a moment of consideration, speaks. "I'll go with you, Henry. I appreciate your initiative."

Nette watches the rest of the introductions with great interest and casts the occasional sideways glance at Falon, just in case he should spontaneously combust. Can't be too sure! Eventually she also noticed Bee's stare which makes her somewhat nervous. Her mind races for a moment and tries to list all the possible faux pas she could have committed since entering, not really sure which one that caught the cartographer's attention. Eventually she manages to focus herself again only to find that the introductions are over and Farina are handing her a pokéball.
Nette takes a deep breath and pauses to savour the moment. A pokémon just for me! Then she releases the Mawile and gently picks it up, content to merely hold the small pokémon for a while. Adorable! After a little while she realizes she probably aren't supposed to *just* pet her new friend and heads over to sign her name in one of the groups, not caring much for which one!

Bee realizes that in her curiosity she's been staring at Nette. After a moment, underneath Farina's explanations, she whispers, "Sorry. I've never met somebody like you before."
Oh, but now they have a mission, and more importantly, she has a Pokémon! She releases it and grins down at the Swinub that flops into her lap. "Ah, he's so cute! Hmm... you need a name..." She ruffles the Swinub's soft fur, resisting the urge to just bury her face in it. She should probably try to at least look a little professional. "How about Lance? Lance is a good name. Oh, right, I call maps on the other team!"
She sets Lance on the floor gently and hops up to gather up the mapping supplies. She's got some, but maybe this paper is special. She glances over at Henry and shoots him a grin. "We'll see which team has the best map! Who wants to be on my team?"

Olivier dove towards the Pokéball, taking his up in his hand and cackling happily. "Oh how absolutely wonderful!~" He cried. Within moments, he flopped a cotton like creature onto the ground. He jumped up and down with tremulous joy!
"Neeee! You're so FLUFFY! A Cottonee too right? Ooh! Ooh! Therefore I now pronounce you, NEEEE!"
The Cottonee turned to look upwards towards Olivier with supreme confusion. This wasn't how this usually worked was it? The trainer screaming and -oh no. A pair large, spindly hands picked up the Cottonee and raised it high into the air. The small grass fairy shed extra cotton in a panic. Oh no. This is how it ends. This is- No wait, grounded.
Olivier plopped the Cottonee down upon his head proudly, brandishing the creature as a hat. Nee, as he had just been named, curled a few appendages of cotton into his hair and held on for dear life.
"Now!~ I think I shall lead the way on Team 2! The east is where our valiant sun rises each day before, scratching it's way into the far horizon as a timeless gladiator of old! Therefore, I think it is the perfect place to start my own association with this fine Guild, yes?"
Hopping over to the side next to Bee, he grinned toothily. "I suppose that would mean I'll be having the best maps with you! Which is good, because I positively have no clue of what a map is actually supposed to look like! It's mostly just pretty scribbling, right?"

Falon picks up his ball and lets out his partner. A green serpent materializes in front of him, looking up at him. "Sny." he simply says in greeting, while Falon grins down at him broadly. "Perfect! Absolutely fantastic! I think I'll name you... Kaelan! Yeah, that sounds perfect!" The newly christened Kaelan looks a bit perturbed by his trainer's enthusiasm, but nods. Falon kneels down and stretches out his arm for the Snivy to climb up on, and Kaelan does so quickly, stopping on his right shoulder, half hidden in Falon's hair.
Falon jumps up and hears Henry say he'll be one of the mappers. He quickly runs toward the top hat wearing gentleman, an excited look on his face. "Oooh, ooh, I'm with you! You're wearing a top hat, which is the second best headdress in existence."

Nithia scoops her ring back up from the table and releases her Chingling. The small, sentient bell with ribbons on it hovers peacefully in front of her face and chimes softly. Nithia stares at if for a few moments, then nods in satisfaction. "Hello, Tiik." The bell does a confused twirl. "Ching~?""No, not Ching, Tiik." "Ling." "No, Tiik.""Ching~ling..." This would continue on for quite some time until they reached a happy compromise.
After, Nithia looks around the room with a pensive look on her face. She whispers in what she thinks is a quiet voice. "Now Tiik, I think someone in this room is possessed by a ghost. Don't freak out though, we'll get them! Anyone look possessed-y to you?" The little bell twirls for a moment before floating towards a random person in the room happily, not really understanding. Nithia's eyes widen and she pulls out a thin strip of paper from a small pouch. She sneaks up behind the aforementioned possessed, and then suddenly lunges forward, slapping the piece of paper onto the back of Falon's head as hard as she could. "Hah, got you, ghost!" Tiik chimes encouragingly beside her, twirling in excitement.

Suddenly, Falon's head shoots forward as he is slapped on the back of his head, and he hears someone, Nithia he thinks, say something about ghosts. He twirls around - while Kaelan is shouting "Sni, sni, vy vy, snivy sny!" - and sees Nithia standing right behind him, a Chingling floating next to her. "A ghost? Again!? Where!? Lemme at em!" He draws his sword and promptly sets it on fire, though careful not to have it near Nithia or her partner.

Rolling his eyes at Nithia's crazy antics, Helios releases his own pokemon to have a good look at it. A small yellow-and-brown seed pokemon pops out and floats up to him.
"Wow, little guy, you actually look pretty neat. We'll see if you can back that up on the battlefield, though... I think I'll call you Solaire, after my favorite teacher."
He turns to the team list, realizing there was only one spot left. Fine with him; he didn't really care who he was with, since he didn't know any of these people anyway. "Well, I guess we should get going then..."

Oh... Nette notes to herself when Bee explains, feeling relieved she hadn't done anything silly just yet! She also attempted to make her thoughts verbal, with decent success. "Oh no it is okay! Sorry. Uhm..." _____________
When Falon starts to light things on fire again Nette nervously shuffles a little bit further from him and glances at the team listings again. She was relieved to note that she was not in the same group - He seems nice and all, but ... too much newness! Also a potential ghost-infestation was something she was glad to not deal with for now!
A good idea strikes Nette and she seeks refuge with the other members of her team, tactically placing them between herself and the developing fire+ghost incident. She focuses her mind on other matters by gently petting her new Mawile friend then proceeds to business.
"Mr Extraordinaire is right. Unless we have preparations to make we should probably head out. No need to loiter!" Nette agreed and mental patted herself on the back - she had remembered the most courteous way of addressing the Others; by a respectful title and their surname! The surname is easy to find - it it what they say last when they introduce themselves!
